It comes from South America.
The growing consumption of this fruit is basically due to its high content of ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), which in some varieties reaches up to 5,000mg per 100gr of pulp. This index is up to 100 times that of orange or ten times that of goiaba, fruits with a high content of this vitamin.
